Settlement with D.R. Horton After Five-Day Trial

Jay Anthony concluded a case against D.R. Horton with a settlement reached just hours before closing arguments, following a five-day trial.  The case – Remick v. D.R. Horton (2017-CP-42-03898) – was based on the flooding of the plaintiffs’ home in the Duncan Station neighborhood in Duncan, South Carolina.  The trial took place in Spartanburg County before Judge Mark Hayes.  It involved seventeen witnesses, four of whom were expert witnesses, and was interrupted twice by tornado warnings.  The parties were scheduled to present closing arguments on Monday, February 10th, but resolved the case late Sunday afternoon.  “This was a long time coming for the Remicks,” said Anthony.  “But they were grateful to finally get their day in court and to ultimately reach a resolution.”

The terms of the settlement are confidential.
