About Jay

Jay Anthony has spent his life in the Upstate, having grown up in Spartanburg and attended Furman University. After graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Jay served as a law clerk to Justice Costa M. Pleicones on the Supreme Court of South Carolina.

Following his clerkship, Jay practiced in various areas of litigation and worked for both defense and plaintiffs firms, gaining perspective on all sides of the litigation process.

Today, Jay focuses his practice on personal injury and product defect litigation, appellate law, construction, and business litigation. He has handled cases at all levels of the South Carolina appellate system. Jay has published articles on appellate practice in South Carolina as well as on a variety of other topics and has been a speaker with the South Carolina Bar Association’s Continuing Education Program and Law School for Non-Lawyers Program.

Jay has been recognized in Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers – selections based on votes from other lawyers. He has also been named to Greenville Business Magazine’s Legal Elite in the areas of Personal Injury, Construction Law, Insurance Law, and Business Litigation, again based on votes of his colleagues. In past years he was named to Greenville Business Magazine’s Best & Brightest Under 35 and was selected as a member of the Chamber’s Leadership Greenville program.

Jay serves as the president of the Haynsworth-Perry Inn of Court and is a board member and co-founder of the non-profit Friends of Cleveland Park.  He volunteers as a Cub Scout den leader and is former board members and chair of the Family Effect. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling around the Carolinas and spending time on the Swamp Rabbit Trail with his wife, Kristen, and their three children.
