Jay Anthony Presents at Appellate Law CLE
On December 8th, the Trial & Appellate Advocacy Committee hosted a CLE at the University of South Carolina School of Law that focused on Appellate Advocacy and, specifically, oral arguments. The program consisted of presentations from various lawyers and judges regarding effective techniques for oral argument.
Jay Anthony was asked to chair a panel of former appellate law clerks and to also participate in a presentation of an example oral argument. For the latter exercise, Jay was asked to re-argue an important case which was presented to the Supreme Court of South Carolina in 2018. The panel for the oral argument portion consisted of judges and justices from the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of South Carolina.
A former law clerk to Justice Costa M. Pleicones, Jay has handled cases at all levels of the South Carolina appellate system. He has been recognized in Best Lawyers in the area of appellate law – a selection based entirely on votes of other lawyers.
